List of authorities supervising the protection of fundamental rights under Article 77 of the AI Act

This article requires each Member State to compile and publish a list of the bodies or authorities designated to monitor compliance with European Union legislation safeguarding fundamental rights. The list must be submitted to the European Commission by 2 November 2024.

Portugal met this requirement within the prescribed deadline. The list comprises the following entities:

National Communications Authority (ANACOM);
Inspectorate-General of Finance (IGF);
National Security Office (GNS);
Regulatory Authority for the Media (ERC);
Inspectorate-General of National Defence (IGDN);
Inspectorate-General of Justice Services (IGSJ);
Judiciary Police (PJ);
Inspectorate-General of Internal Administration (IGAI);
Inspectorate-General of Education and Science (IGEC);
Health Regulatory Authority (ERS);
Food and Economic Safety Authority (ASAE);
Inspectorate-General of the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security (IGMTSSS);
Authority for Working Conditions (ACT);
Energy Services Regulatory Authority (ERSE).
