The Business Digital Wallet Reaches Individual Entrepreneurs
Update 20.02.2026
The second phase of the Business Digital Wallet launch brings two new features: a profile for Individual Entrepreneurs (ENI) and the integration of SME Certification. Individual Entrepreneurs now have centralised access to their professional and business information directly in the gov.pt app, without the need to use multiple portals.

In Detail
The Business Digital Wallet (CDE), available on the gov.pt application, is entering a new phase of expansion with two significant developments for the Portuguese business ecosystem: the creation of a dedicated profile for Individual Entrepreneurs (ENI) and the integration of SME Certification.
The update allows entrepreneurs and independent professionals to consolidate, in a single digital space, the official documentation required for managing their activity, eliminating the need to resort to multiple Public Administration services and portals.
What is available for Individual Entrepreneurs
With the new ENI profile, Individual Entrepreneurs now have immediate access to essential official documents for their activity:
-
Professional and Business Activity Card – Digital document for professional and business identification.
-
Social Security Contributory Status – Declaration automatically updated with the holder's contributory status.
-
Tax Authority Tax Status – Updated proof of tax status with the tax administration.
-
Centralised ENI Profile – Dedicated area for consulting and managing business activity.
All available documents are official, automatically updated, and can be shared via QR Code, enabling real-time validation.
What changed in this second phase
The Business Digital Wallet was launched in January 2026, in a first phase aimed at commercial companies and their legal representatives. With this new development, the platform now extends access to Individual Entrepreneurs, one of the most common forms of economic activity in Portugal. The update also includes SME Certification, issued by IAPMEI, enabling micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises to verify their status directly through the application.
SME Certification now integrated
The integration of SME Certification simplifies access to a document frequently required in processes such as:
-
Applications for European funds;
-
Public incentive programmes;
-
Public tenders;
-
Business financing facilities.
With this integration, the certification is now permanently accessible in digital format, always up to date.
Uptake in numbers
Since the launch in January 2026, uptake of the platform has been growing consistently:
-
More than 10,000 companies with an active wallet;
-
Approximately 10,000 regular users;
-
More than 35,000 digital documents have already been issued and made available through the platform.
These figures reflect the growing adoption of digital public services by Portuguese companies and entrepreneurs.
How to access
Access to the Business Digital Wallet is free of charge and made through the gov.pt app, using authentication with the Digital Mobile Key (Chave Móvel Digital). Those who already have the application installed only need to update it to the latest version. For new users, the application is available free of charge for iOS, Android, and Huawei.
A step forward in business digitalisation
With this project, Portugal reinforces its commitment to administrative modernisation and simplifying the relationship between businesses and the State, through more accessible, integrated, and secure digital services.
The Business Digital Wallet is a project developed by the Agency for Technological Reform of the State (ARTE) and co-financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) and the European NextGenerationEU programme.
