In Detail
The gov.pt application now provides access to the Digital Business Wallet, a new feature that allows entrepreneurs to access and share essential official documents for business activity in a secure and centralized way. Integrated into the Public Administration’s digital transformation strategy, this solution eliminates the need to use multiple portals or paper-based processes, significantly reducing the bureaucracy associated with business document management.
In this first phase, the Digital Business Wallet includes the Company Electronic Card, the tax status document issued by the Tax and Customs Authority, the Social Security contribution status declaration, and the Central Register of Beneficial Ownership. All documents have official legal value, are automatically updated, and can be used to prove the company’s identity and its legal, tax, and contributory status, including real-time validation via QR Code.
Access to the Digital Business Wallet is free of charge and available through the gov.pt application, upon authentication with the Digital Mobile Key. The feature is available to legal representatives and individuals with duly registered powers of representation, enabling more agile, secure, and digital business management.
The Digital Business Wallet was presented in Porto, at a ceremony attended by the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, the Minister of Justice, Rita Alarcão Júdice, the Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion, Manuel Castro Almeida, the Minister in the Cabinet of the Prime Minister and of State Reform, Gonçalo Saraiva Matias, and the President of ARTE and CTO of the State, Manuel Dias. On the occasion, the importance of this solution as an instrument for administrative simplification and for giving time back to businesses was highlighted.
A phased evolution of the Digital Business Wallet is planned, with the integration of new digital services such as the Permanent Commercial Certificate, SME certifications, electronic signature, tax and contributory notifications, and the management of multiple companies within a single application.
With this launch, Portugal establishes itself as the first country in the European Union to provide a digital business wallet aligned with the eIDAS 2.0 regulation, paving the way for future interoperability with the European Business Wallet and for the simplification of administrative processes across the European space.
