The programme offers financial assistance for training in areas such as productivity software, artificial intelligence, digital marketing, data analytics and cybersecurity. Applications are open until 30 June 2026.

What is Cheque-Formação + Digital?

It is part of the Emprego + Digital programme, which was created under Ministerial Order No 246/2022  of 27 September.

Operating on a reimbursement basis, applicants enrol in and pay for their chosen training upfront. After completing the course and fulfilling all requirements, they may apply to the IEFP for reimbursement.

Financial support is available up to the value of €750 per applicant per year, counted from the approval date of the first application. If the training costs less than this amount, it may be fully reimbursed.

Who can apply?

The following individuals are eligible to apply:

  • Employees;
  • Self-employed professionals;
  • Sole shareholders of single-member companies,

There are no minimum or maximum age requirements and no minimum educational qualifications are required.

What training is eligible?

Training must be delivered by one of the following:

  • Training providers certified by DGERT;
  • Higher education institutions;
  • Other entities legally authorised to provide training.

The programme covers a wide range of training formats and qualification levels, from short professional courses to postgraduate qualifications and Master's degrees in digital-related fields.

Some of the most popular areas include:

  • Artificial intelligence;
  • Social media management;
  • Digital marketing;
  • Cybersecurity;
  • Productivity tools such as Word and Excel.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted through the IEFP Online Portal. The process generally involves the following steps:

  • Choose an eligible course from a certified training provider.
  • Enrol in and complete the training.
  • Submit the application, including proof of tax and social security compliance.
  • Wait for the IEFP's assessment and the Letter of Acceptance.
  • Sign and return the Letter of Acceptance.
  • Complete the process on the online platform.
  • Receive reimbursement following final validation.

According to the IEFP, reimbursement is typically processed within 30 days of final approval.

Deadlines and conditions

Applications may be submitted for training courses that began on or after 28 September 2022.

The deadline for completing eligible training has been extended to 30 June 2026 due to strong demand for the programme.
