AI Act – Governance Model
The AI Act establishes the AI Board as a key element of its governance structure. To effectively carry out its tasks, it proposes a three-level operational structure: the AI Board, Standing Subgroups, and Additional/Thematic Subgroups.
AI Board – High-Level Representatives
Main Tasks:
Set strategic agendas; provide overall direction and coordination to ensure that the AI Board’s tasks are carried out.
ARTE serves as the national high-level representative for:
- The European Artificial Intelligence Board;
- The Committee supporting the European Commission in adopting delegated acts.
Planned Standing Subgroups
Main Tasks:
Facilitate cooperation and knowledge-sharing among national competent authorities responsible for AI Act enforcement. Collect and exchange technical and regulatory expertise, as well as best practices among Member States.

Additional / Thematic Subgroups
Main Tasks:
Support the European Commission in examining specific issues or deliverables that require technical or sectoral expertise.
