This webinar explores the current state of cloud adoption in Public Administration and the Sovereign Cloud

During the session, participants were introduced to the results of a study that assessed the impact of cloud governance in public administration. The presentation highlighted the level of maturity achieved by public sector organisations, as well as the main challenges and opportunities associated with cloud adoption. 

The report is an important tool for monitoring cloud adoption in the public sector, helping to identify emerging trends, areas for improvement, and priorities for future digital transformation policies. 

The findings show that cloud adoption continues to expand within the public sector, supporting the modernisation of public services and improving operational efficiency. However, the report also highlights differing levels of maturity among public organisations, underlining the need to strengthen governance frameworks, skills, security, and the strategic management of cloud services. 

A key focus of the webinar was the presentation of the vision behind the National Sovereign Cloud Plan, which will guide the next phase of cloud adoption in the public sector. During the session, the Sovereign Cloud was presented as a cornerstone of Portugal's digital sovereignty strategy, strengthening the protection of critical public sector data and enhancing operational resilience, thereby improving the state's ability to respond to emerging challenges. 

During the Q&A session, the potential of the plan to support the development of Portugal's cloud ecosystem was also explored. Opportunities discussed included attracting investment in data centres, fostering specialised skills, and creating conditions that would make the market more competitive and innovative, involving both national and international providers. 

The webinar concluded with a reinforcement of the message that the cloud is now a strategic capability for the state, playing a central role in digital transformation, the modernisation of public services, and the development of a more resilient, secure, and future-ready public administration. 

The next phase will support the delivery of more efficient, reliable and scalable public services, thereby improving citizens' and businesses' experience of interacting with public services. 

It was also announced that a public consultation on the National Sovereign Cloud Plan will be launched shortly, providing stakeholders across the ecosystem with the opportunity to contribute to its development.
