Promoting gender equality by challenging stereotypes in the field of information technologies and fostering equal opportunities.

 

What is it?

This ambition stems from the need to reduce the gap between the number of women and men in digital fields. Today, digital skills are essential for exercising everyday rights and responsibilities, improving employability and accessing higher income levels. Digital skills are for everyone, and everyone should benefit from the opportunities they create—through education, lifelong learning or participation in the labour market.

The objectives are to:

  • Break down stereotypes, recognising that everyone can and should use digital tools
  • Develop initiatives that inspire girls to pursue studies in digital fields
  • Promote access to digital skills training among women
  • Increase the presence of women in digital professions
  • Promote gender equality

  • A study published in March 2020 by the European Commission shows that greater gender equality could lead to a 6.1% increase in EU GDP per capita by 2050
