Adolfo Mesquita Nunes

Biography

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the Faculty of Law of the Portuguese Catholic University and a Master’s degree in Law and Political Science from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon.

He is a partner at Pérez-Llorca Law Firm, where he co-coordinates the Public and Regulatory Law Department. In recent years, he has focused on compliance issues in digital markets and, more recently, particularly on matters related to artificial intelligence. He is the author of academic articles in his field of specialisation and has recently written on the impact of the European Artificial Intelligence Regulation on Public Administration.

A non-executive member of the Board of Directors of Galp since April 2019, he has been Lead Independent Director and Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of Galp since 3 May 2023.

He is an invited Assistant Professor at Nova SBE and Nova School of Law and serves as an arbitrator in Public Law at CAAD – the Administrative Arbitration Centre.

He previously served in the XIX and XX Governments as Secretary of State for Tourism between February 2013 and November 2015, and was also a Member of the Portuguese Parliament from June 2011 to February 2013.
